Silver Star Radio number Five is nearly here. The Pentacle is about to be completed. Streaming to you live from inside the Reality Studios at 88.3 WAIF FM in Cincinnati, this magickal star of a radio broadcast splinters into the four cardinal directions from the wand of our antennae transmitter while encompassing the entire Earth in the magnetic glow of the Dreamtime. Listen live tonight, Thursday June 23rd, 10PM to Midnight EST at the above location on the dial or here on the web: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/waif-cincinnati

Featuring a live performance from Cincinnati’s long time experimental-electronica outfit, NEATO TORPEDO, they will permeate the air with their discombobulated improvisations. Joining us is special guest, the indefatigable Dave Lynch on Sitar, Overtone Flute and Ocarina amongst other sundry noise making devices. Another Mystery Guest friend will be joining us on Mini-Moog. Along with the core members Brave Dave on bass & electronics, 8Fold on myriad antique & boutique electronic devices, Android Hissett on drums, bass, percussion, and myself Justin Patrick on circuit-bent keyboards, tapes & electronics.
This episode also ties into the launch of “156=Musick” a global collaboration between members of The Hermaphroditic ChaOrder of the Silver Dusk, released just a few days ago on the Zoharum label in Poland (other groups on the label include Inner Vision Laboratory, Bisclaveret, and Hoarfrost amongst others). A long time in the making, with many spurts, flirtations, halts, gasps, and supportive strokes along the way, it has finally come, seeding the astral plane with the minglings of our multivalent musical emissions. The album is dedicated to the memories of John Balance, Peter Christopherson and Kenneth Grant, pioneers of magick and musick.
Other features include an invocation from Aion’s Liber Sigil A IAF (Waning MoonPublishing) and music from Babalith’s new album Huni Kui. We’ll probably also play some Coil to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Loves Secret Domain, released in July of 1991. And we’ll also play a piece from our good friend Erik T. Lawson, from a compilation he appeared on dedicated to John Balance,“Full Cold Moon – A Tribute to Jhonn Balance and the Music of Coil”, Otherwise we’ll just be up to some Paganarchist mischief.

So spread this message to your friends near or far and gather round the campfire radio as we dose you with another blast of Esoteric Radio Activity.

Justin Patrick Moore

P.S.:  And the podcast version of this episode will be up within the next week… so stay tuned.

Info on Opal Opus: Journey to Alakazoo follows:

2010 “AUDIENCE PICK OF THE FRINGE” WRITERS BRING

OPAL OPUS: JOURNEY TO ALAKAZOO TO 2011 FRINGE

Cincinnati, OH – 25 May 2011 — The Tangled Leaves Theatre Collective (TLTC) makes their second Fringe Festival appearance with local playwright team, Serenity Fisher and Robin O’Neal Kissel, who debuted their first collaborative effort, Sophie’s Dream, winning “Audience Pick of the Fringe” in 2010. They describe Opal Opus: Journey to Alakazoo as a “quirky Pop’ra” with original music composed and arranged by Serenity Fisher. Music is sung and accompanied by piano and cello. Piano played by Serenity Fisher, cello by Jennifer Higgins Wheatley. Against a backdrop of haunting melodies, Opal Opus musically navigates the dark, whimsical, romantic, eccentric, creative processes of the soul. Cheryl Maxine Couch of CC Creative Productions directs. Performances are June 1 at 9 p.m., June 3 at 7:30 p.m., June 6 at 8 p.m., June 9 at 9 p.m., and June 11 at 4:00 p.m. at Hanke 2, 1128 Main Street, in the Over-the-Rhine neighborhood of Cincinnati. Single tickets are $12 and can be purchased at www.cincyfringe.com or by calling (513) 300- KNOW (5669).

There are seven performers on the Journey to Alakazoo. A family of four: John, Joline, Joey Jo and Josephine. The “J” family is disconnected on multiple levels: Husband from wife, parents from children, all from his/her own creative spark. Opal and Opus play the opulent twins that make up the Play. Opal represents feminine and Opus masculine energy. Together, they hold the natural beauty and song-story that releases the purest form of creative flow. They can activate even the worriest warrior to un-stick their stuck, realize their passion and channel chaos into creation – the gift of being truly alive. The cast is rounded out by the Writer who candidly reveals her own creative process. The Opal Opus cast includes Aretta Baumgartner, Blake Bowden, Annie Kalahurka, Ken Early, Callie Schuttera, John Patrick Maddock, and Serenity Fisher.

Opal Opus: Journey to Alakazoo is produced by TLTC. In its sophomore production, TLTC continues to create original, socially conscious work through the exploration of overlapping artistic mediums. Visit the web site at www.tangledleaves.wordpress.com.

Also I wanted to share this video with everyone. It is of Jonas Sen, a fellow member of Horus Maat Lodge accompanying Bjork on Celesta. The Seven Deadly Sins: Pride

mirrorThis show was originally broadcast on April 21st, 2011 and is the second in the series of collaborations with Professor Nutbudder focusing in on the Seven Deadly Sins. Elliott Beal, Dr. Sydosky, and Uncle Dan also provided moralistic support. We don’t ask you to agree, we just ask you to listen: to the plastic surgery disasters, reality TV, to the voice of the Pepsi generation:

Previously in the series we zoomed in on Gluttony.

Brian “Thrifstore Leather” Riley and I are running a Mix Tape contest for our radio show “On the Way to the Peak of Normal.” The rules are simple: make us the best damn cassette mix you possibly can. But it has to be on a sixty-minute tape. CD mixes will not be accepted. The top two winners will have their tapes played on an episode of “On the Way to the Peak of Normal” and will be podcasted here as well. In addition to the number one winner receive two unique cassette mixes from Thrifstore and I, each one of us making a side. The second place winner will receive one unique tape from us. Both will receive some additional undisclosed prizes. Everyone who sends in a tape will receive a copy of the Justin Patrick CD “Deep Immersion Musick”.  The deadline is August 1st. The winners tapes will be played in late September or early October. Be sure to include your contact information with the tape. If you are in a band or have a project also let us know so we can talk about on the air…

Please send submissions to:

On the Way to the Peak of Normal c/o WAIF
1434 E. McMillan Ave.
Cincinnati, OH 45206-2225

Note: This is also the same mailing address you can send original music or gifts to for airplay. We love to support independent music, so send in your project to us: tapes, vinyl, CD, flash drive loaded with MP3s… we love it all.
